“The heart of the Waldorf method is the conviction that education is an art — it must speak to the child’s experience. To educate the whole child, his heart and will must be reached as well as his mind.” — Rudolf Steiner

  • "Words can hardly capture the magic our family experienced at Hummingbird House. Anyone who has met Ms. Cecelia knows the wonder, care, and intention she brings to every child and family who walks through her doors. I was initially hesitant to send my three-year-old into the world of school, but Hummingbird House offered such a gentle, natural transition—from the warmth and comfort of home to the warmth and comfort of a nurturing learning environment. Most importantly, our children are happy, thriving, and growing under Ms. Cecelia’s loving care. We truly couldn’t imagine a better place for our precious children."

  • “There are almost no words to articulate how grateful we are for Ms Cecelia and the program she has created with so much love and care at Hummingbird. She is present in a way that I’ve rarely witnessed outside of practice communities. She is present with the children, with the parents, and with the classroom environment. And this creates a context in which the children feel seen, heard, loved, and safe. Our son has thrived in the daily rhythm and has deepened his reverence for nature, the seasons, and the way he cares for himself and others. What a dream to find a teacher with so much experience who wants to work with littles again in a small setting. We will miss her dearly when it’s time to move onto the grades! There is so much love at Hummingbird both in the classroom and with the community of parents.”

  • "As a stay at home mom, preschool was optional to our family as we did not NEED child care. Instead, we were exploring if an additive option existed - a place to build our son's confidence away from home, where he would feel loved and safe to explore. In short, it needed to be magical to replace the loving rhythm we already had at home.  Enter Ms Cecelia. Words cannot describe the light, magic and love she exudes. Not only has she built an incredible school for our children, she has created a safe haven for parents who are navigating early childhood. My son spent two beautiful years in her school and wishes he could stay at Hummingbird House forever. Now that our second child is three, there was no question about where she would attend.” “I’m deeply grateful we found Hummingbird House and Ms Cecelia. I cannot imagine a more connected, gentle, nurturing program for my little. Ms Cecelia’s wide field of attention supports this connected environment and she seems to always be aware of all the children’s energies, anticipating behaviors before they emerge, and gently guiding them to respond in authentic and caring ways to themselves and others. Truly exceeded all my imaginings for what preschool could be, we are so grateful we are part of the HH family.”

  • "Ms. Cecelia and the Hummingbird House are a true and rare gem of Bend. For early childcare and pre-school education, she is hands down the best in her knowledge, expertise, and sense of warmth. She creates a space for the children that is loving and nurturing beyond anything I've experienced. Absolutely wonderful!"
